The New iPhone is here! Everyone is so excited to go out and buy it for… $1,199. Well, it is not the most surprising that the 18th edition of the iPhone may come with a bit of a price jump, but how can Apple justify asking people to spend that type of money on a phone most people have a similar version of?

Everything has grown in cost, whether that is from a current world event or simply because materials and processing are more expensive. This new iPhone, though, is forcing consumers to really sit and think about what this new device would offer in order to get them to pull the purchase trigger.

For those thinking that the new device might incorporate Artificial Intelligence (AI), they would be right. The old Siri that we have come to love will undergo a change and don a new name: Siri AI. It is backed by Google Gemini models and will offer new features to customers.

So, there is AI implemented in the new iPhone, and if you know Apple, then you know what else will be on the new phone… a better camera! It seems that Apple heavily depends on its customers valuing the camera in their phone, which a lot of smartphone users do. Both of these new additions raise the question of where this type of technology will take us. Will humans value their cameras and the ability to use their creativity to take great pictures, or will humans value the AI that has been woven in to limit some of that creativity?

Apple has always tried to push updated cameras or new versions of software that would better its customers’ experience using the phone. These additions have always been in the frame of mind to let its users have a more efficient time when making something or sharing with the phone. This new AI in the phones adds a twist that may limit those creative capabilities that Apple has advertised for years.

With the new release of the iPhone 18, many concerns are coming up about consumerism today and where certain people lie in that. Those who will go instantly and buy the iPhone will have first access to all of the new features, and of course, all of the notoriety people may get from it. There will also be those who still have their iPhone 14 and have to use the old charger.

Some still hold on to the old days of having a home button, or if you want to really get retro, still have a phone with physical buttons on the front. As companies begin to move AI into our everyday devices, people must stay aware of what they are signing up for and what they are purchasing. Know what technology is built into your small pocket-sized computer.
