On Saturday, Sept. 26th, the Keene State Volleyball team took a trip to Connecticut to match up against the Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) Warriors volleyball team and took home a victory. The game lasted approximately two hours and went to a maximum of five sets. Although the Owls lost the first set 22-25, they won the next two sets 25-18 and 25-21. The Warriors took back the fourth set 22-25, but the Keene State Owls claimed the win after winning the final set 15-13.

The Keene State women’s volleyball team averaged 79.0 points against the Warriors. The Owls ended the game with 68 kills, four aces, seven blocks, 63 assists and 95 digs.

For individual statistics, first-year outside hitter Bella Bacon led the Owls with 20 kills and 21 digs, followed closely by senior outside hitter Colleen Fraser, who secured 15 kills and 18 digs. Junior outside hitter Marina Miller helped greatly to the win by securing 10 kills. Miller also obtained an ace, as well as first-year libero Shaunah Bracken and sophomore setter Ava Harkins. First-year middle blocker Aiya Dottin dominated the court with five blocks for the defensive side. On the offensive side, Harkins obtained 27 assists for her team. Senior setter Alexis Small also grabbed 21 assists to contribute to the Owls’ victory. Another notable statistic comes from Bracken, who got 21 digs and nine assists.

The Keene State Women’s Volleyball team now has a record of 6-5, marking its game against Eastern the first win away.
