Keene State College Field Hockey put together a dominant offensive performance, scoring seven goals throughout the match against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass Dartmouth) Corsairs on Saturday, Sept. 19. The Owls controlled the game from the opening minutes and received contributions from several players across the lineup.
Keene State wasted little time taking control of the scoreboard. Just over four minutes into the game, first-year forward Henley Gilstrap scored her eighth goal of the season. Senior midfielder Grace Seabury set up the play with an assist, giving the Owls an early advantage and establishing the tone for the remainder of the contest.
Gilstrap added another goal later in the first half, scoring at the 29:04 mark. The goal brought her season total to nine and gave Keene State additional momentum heading into halftime.
The Owls picked up where they left off in the second half. Just over a minute into the period, senior forward Meghan Daileanes scored her fifth goal of the season on a pass from junior defender Lilah Carr. Keene State struck again shortly afterward when sophomore midfielder Emma Bazin recorded her third goal of the season, assisted by senior midfielder Elyse Picard.
Seabury added her name to the scoresheet at 38:28, scoring her fourth goal of the season. Less than two minutes later, Picard found the cage for her second goal of the year, with Seabury recording her second assist of the match.
Keene State remained in control late in the game, and senior midfielder Belle Hemond converted a penalty stroke at 49:56 to complete the Owls’ seven-goal performance. The offensive outburst showcased Keene State’s depth, with five different players accounting for the team’s seven goals.
With contributions coming from throughout the lineup, the Owls maintained control of the contest and finished with a convincing victory. The team’s next game is against Thomas College on Saturday, Sep. 26.
