A recent shooting at the White House caused quite the stir-up. Another assassination attempt on Trump, no doubt, but the happenings themselves led to major controversy over whether it was staged or not.
On April 25, during a Washington dinner, gunshots were reported in the hall. According to CBS Evening News, the suspect arrested was a 31-year-old award-winning teacher and star student, Cole Allen. He was carrying three knives, a semi-auto handgun and a pump action shotgun, both legally owned. After being arrested, he appeared in federal court two days later, being charged with attempting to assassinate the President.
Trump has been in the line of fire, apparently, having had two assassination attempts in his pocket. First at a Pa. rally back in 2024 with the famous ear incident, then in September of the same year while he was golfing in Fla.
The sequence of events for the shooting is pretty thoroughly explained in a Fox News article. Around 8:36 p.m., he ran through a security checkpoint and towards the stairs that led to the ballroom entrance. He got off one shotgun round into the ballroom, but fell down before he could get more off. He was then apprehended. Those high-level members of the federal government, 12 out of 18 members of the line of succession, including Trump, were rushed off stage and to safety by Secret Service members. The rest of those in attendance were escorted out after three minutes, according to CBS News.
That was pretty much most of the details from the actual shooting, in addition to the fact that he was going to send a letter to his family. From what CBS News found, the letter was him writing about what he had done and what he was going to do. Something that showed up through a few articles is what he wrote when it came to his surprise at the lack of security; how there was practically none for those inside, rather than those trying to get in from the outside.
The conspiracies sparking up from this are that the entire shooting was staged, probably to distract from the rising conflict in Iran or Trump’s drastic poll numbers. And what was happening around the time he was shot in the ear? Elections. Could that shooting have also been staged to make Trump look like he was resilient and courageous? Maybe, but that’s just another theory.
Trump is the most impeached President in history and now has the most assassination attempts other than Gerald Ford back in 1975, according to The Week. Those numbers may be linked, or at least to the internet. This marks a huge spike in political violence in recent times. I can’t stand by it.
Is Trump a good person? By all means, no. But I don’t seek death as a solution, and I don’t seek violence as any way to solve a problem. It’s a band-aid fix to things like this. It’s unnecessary and unjust. But if Trump doesn’t try to change his ways after this many shooting attempts, if he doesn’t think, “Hey, maybe they’re trying to kill me for a reason. Maybe I should change my ways,” then I don’t know what will. But it’s been seen time and time again that assassination attempts aren’t shaking him in any way possible: we may as well be peaceful in protesting the President and his decisions, because we can clearly see that violence is not the answer.
