Guaranteeing his return to the NCAA Division III swimming championships for the third straight year, this week’s athlete of the week is Drew Ledwith.

Ledwith posted automatic qualifying times in two events for the Owls at the MIT Invitational meet. The junior placed first in the 500 free with a time of 4:27.92, and won the 1,650 free with a 15:28.56 mark.

Ledwith was an All-American in both events last year. He will have a chance to defend his All-American status in March.

The first runner-up this week is Christan Wojtas on the KSC Women’s Basketball team.

Wojtas led the Owls in scoring with 13 points and in rebounding with six in KSC’s 65-42 loss to Amherst College. The sophomore led the team in scoring again with 15 points in KSC’s 58-48 loss to UMass-Dartmouth. She also had four rebounds and three assists in the contest. Wojtas was named the Little East Conference’s Women’s Basketball Rookie of the Week for her efforts.

The second runner-up this week is KSC track and field athlete Fred Matthews. The freshman won the weight toss event with a distance of 45’-11.25” and placed forth in the shot put with a throw of 39’-08.50”.

Matthews was named the LEC Mens’ Rookie Field Athlete of the Week for his top finishes in his first collegiate meet.
