This week’s athlete of the week is Kevin Hoyt of the Keene State College men’s track and field team.

The senior distance runner took sixth place, and set a personal best time of 15 minutes, 1.07 seconds in the 5,000 meter race at the highly competitive Boston University Terrier Invitational.

Hoyt’s time was good enough to qualify him for the New England Open and the ECAC Championships in the 5,000 meter run.

Hoyt was also named the Little East Conference track athlete of the week.

The first runner up is KSC men’s basketball senior forward, Eric Fazio.

Fazio put up a game high 20 points in KSC’s 86-70 home victory over conference opponent UMass-Boston.

He also compiled a game high nine rebounds in the contest.

Fazio was affective at drawing fouls, getting to the line 12 times in the game. Fazio went 10-12 from the free throw line, and had one assist and three steals in 26 minutes of play.

The senior forward also had an additional six points, three rebounds, and one block in his 16 minutes of playing time in the Owl’s 64-56 win over Eastern Connecticut State.

The second runner up this week is sophomore Drew Ledwith, of the men’s swimming and diving team.

Ledwith led the Owls with his three individual victories in KSC’s 147-144 dual meet loss versus ranked Connecticut College.

The sophomore won the 1,000-yard freestyle swim with a time of 9:23.38, the 500-yard freestyle with his 4:46.77 mark and the 200-yard fly stroke with a top time of 1:57.29 events.
