Testing locations have switched from the previous year.
During the 2020-21 academic yera, COVID testing was held in the recreation gym. The rec gym typically had eight lines open for students to give their contact information and four or five testing “stations.”
As of right now, COVID testing is being held in the Mountain View Room.
This year, students wait in line and provide their information in the Mountain View Room. Students then go into a side room to swab themselves under supervision of professionals.
However, students have had to wait in the student center hallways and stairwells for testing, with some lines stretching into the first floor student center lobby.
President Treadwell said, “It’s because we use to have eight lines, and now we have one. “
Treadwell said it is causing more of a backup in the lines.
Treadwell explained the decision behind moving testing, “What I didn’t want to do is take the rec center off-line again,” Treadwell said.
Treadwell continued, “The Mountain View Room is essentially a meeting space, and we have lots of those on-campus.”
Treadwell explained that taking the rec center off-line would impact the student negatively.
Because of this, Treadwell said that adminsitration is looking into a possible self-swab option for students with a designated drop-off time, as opposed to a designated time to wait in line.
Treadwell added that she will be asking some student organizatoins, such as The Equinox and Student Assembly for their opinions on the matter.
