A student was escorted from campus following a gun being reported in a residence hall. In an email sent from Leatrice Oram, President Melinda Treadwell’s Chief of Staff, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of Thursday, September 16. According to the email from Oram, “Keene Police Department was called to campus by Keene State Campus Safety in response to a report that a gun was seen in a residence hall.” The email went on to say that the student was then escorted from campus and was “compliant with officers.” “A no trespassing order was immediately issued, and the student is not permitted to return to campus under the order. The student’s parents were notified of the situation,” the email said, also that the coordination with all authorities involved was seamless. Though the incident was dealt with through Keene Police Department, the incident seems to not be listed on the Keene Police log. The student will go through Community Standards to determine potential outcomes. This incident is still under investigation.
