The start of the new semester came with wins from both the women’s and men’s swim and dive teams on Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Plymouth Natatorium. The women’s team competed against both Rhode Island College (RIC) and Plymouth State (PSU), while the men’s team competed against Plymouth State.
The women’s team, coming off its third loss of the season, began the day by winning the 200-yard medley relay. Sophomore Kyleigh Dyer and senior Olivia Boulris were accompanied by juniors Maddy Fitzgerald and Tallulah Going, who finished with a time of 2:02.93 to finish in first place. The Owls had a second team place third in the event that included first-year Eliza Barrett, sophomore Emily Stokel, junior Rebecca Radonovich and senior Rory Lee.
Keene State also took home the 1000-yard freestyle event, with sophomore Madison Wilson finishing at 11:51. Senior Victoria Welch finished third at 12:35.
The top three finishers for the 200-yard freestyle were all Owls. In order, Lee, first-year Hannah Reddick and Boulris finished.
The 50-yard back was also dominated by three Owls, with a PSU swimmer taking the top place in the event. Going finished second and Stokel finished in fourth, with junior London Armitage coming in right between in third.
Fitzgerald came in at third in the 50-yard breaststroke, but finished second in the 100-yard fly, right behind Lee at first.
Going, Dyer and Reddick finished in that order for the 50-yard freestyle, and for the 100-yard freestyle, KSC kept up the pressure with Lee, Reddick and Wilson finishing in that order.
The women’s team had two other first place finishes, as well as two relay teams coming in first and second place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. KSC’s women’s swim and dive beat RIC 191-70 and beat PSU 174-85.
The men’s swim and dive team entered the day off of a seven game losing streak. A matchup with the Owls’ rival was the matchup that brought the team back into the win column.
KSC had three swimmers in the 1000-yard freestyle, first-years Carter Beauchesne, Brayden Rodgers and Caiden Cox finished in that order.
Junior Alec Agosto took home first in the 200-yard freestyle and sophomore Ethan Nguyen finished first in the 50-yard backstroke.
Sophomores Zack Menz and Nguyen finished first and second in the 100-yard backstroke and first-year Joshua Spillane came in at third. Menz, Spilland and Beauchesne finished in that order for the 500-yard freestyle event.
In the Individual Medley, Cox finished in first at just under a minute, followed by Nguyen and Beauchesne at third and fourth. The men’s team also had a 200-yard relay first place finish. The team included Menz, Agosto, Cox, Beauchesne. The final score against PSU was 135-86.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will wait until the Little East Conference Championship, which begins on Feb. 12, 2026.
