Local Burger in Keene no longer has a license to operate a food service establishment in Keene, according to Rick Wood, the city’s fire marshal.
The business’ license expired on Sept. 30, according to public records. Wood said Tuesday afternoon that Local Burger did not renew its license.
“They do not have a valid license currently and they are not operating,” Wood said.
Owner Jeff Igneri was not immediately available Tuesday afternoon to provide comment. He also did not respond to requests for information in September and October.
The Keene restaurant has been closed since the beginning of July after a sign announcing a temporary closure for a staff-wide vacation was posted on its front door. It has remained closed since then. In an email to The Sentinel in August, Igneri attributed the prolonged closure to staffing issues, but did not elaborate on what those issues were.
Igneri opened the Keene restaurant at 82 Main St. in 2012. He also owns three other Local Burger locations in Easthampton, Northampton and Haydenville, Mass.
