The Keene State Women’s Soccer team traveled to the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth (UMass-Dartmouth) on Saturday, Oct. 5 to battle with the Corsairs in a Little East Conference matchup.
The Owls, looking for their first victory since September 4, came into North Dartmouth, Mass. and dominated. Although the Corsairs got off to a strong start offensively, Keene State’s goalkeeper Riley Andriski shut the door on all shots she faced. The Owls struck early in the first half, about 17 minutes in, off of a rebound that was put home by sophomore midfielder Elizabeth Tschudin. Saves were made back and forth throughout the second half; however, the Owls went into the break still ahead 1-0.
The second half started slowly, with no shots on goal until halfway through the period. The Corsairs had a great opportunity to even the game; however, Andriski managed to make another stop, her fifth of the game.
As the minutes dwindled, Keene State added insurance to their lead, with a goal from junior forward Joclynn Tyler with 10:35 remaining. Soon after, the Owls put the icing on the cake with a goal from Allison Kenyon with 5:10 left.
With their win against UMass-Dartmouth, the Owls improved to 4-6-2 on the season overall, and 1-2-1 in conference play. They will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Southern Maine.
