The Owls took a tough loss this past Saturday against Western Connecticut State University (WCSU) in a 3-0 loss.
After traveling to WestConn in hopes of taking home the , the Wolves went on the attack from the beginning, pushing the Owls into a tough position. Within the first 4:29 opening minutes of the game, Western Connecticut was able to take three shots, score and continued to keep up their aggressive pace throughout the whole game.
WestConn’s Suzana Imetovski was able to assist Adriana Alfano during the third shot when it crashed into the net putting the score at 1-0 at an early time. During the next 11 minutes of the game, WCSU fought for their next goal. Luckily for the Owls, goalkeeper Riley Andriski was able to block all three of the shots that went way.
Nearing the end of the first half, KSC fired off three shots at the Wolves’ goalkeeper Gracen Regan, who saved them all. At the end of the first half, WestConn was holding the score 1-0 against the Owl’s.
Andriski opened the game with a brilliant save, stopping WCSU from another goal after the Wolves attempted four corner kicks. During the 54th minute, WCSU’s Imetovski scored the team’s second goal against Keene, putting the score at 2-0.
The next 20 minutes of the game would allow Western Connecticut to outshoot the Owls 6-1.
Although the Owls were still at a disadvantage, they did not let any of the goals in and continued to fight against the Wolves with everything they had.
In the final minutes, Keene’s Emily O’Connell fought to put a goal in for Keene but was stopped by WCSU’s goalkeeper.
To finish off the game, Western Connecticut’s Imetovski put their last goal into the Owl’s nest, finishing the game with a score of 3-0. Keene State took the loss against Western Connecticut State University, with a final score of 3-0. Though the Owls fought hard and played a strong game, they could not get ahead of the Wolves during the second half. The team will be playing their next game at Eastern Connecticut State University Saturday, Sept. 28 at 1 p.m.
