On Saturday, Sept. 14, the Owls and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) took to the field for KSC’s homecoming game.
Three minutes into the game, the Tigers opened with a goal off a header from a penalty kick. At seven minutes and 38 seconds into the game, RIT passed from the goalie to the midfield, to the corner where they found an opening in the Owl’s defense allowing RIT’s Jake Donahue to shoot in the right corner of the goal where Keene State’s goalie, Regan Racicot, fell to stop it half a second too late.
Two minutes later, RIT scored again, making their third and final goal of the game. Keene State finally retaliated as the Owls’ Caleb Harmon, number 24, went one-on-one with RIT’s goalie, got past him and shot, but the Tigers defense stepped into the goal, pushing the ball back out where Harmon was able to tap it in the corner.
In the 14th minute of the game, number 7, Amlyl Aitdowd received two yellow cards, one right after another, forcing him to be ejected from the game and leaving Keene to play one man down.
This put the score to 3-1 RIT, where the score stayed until six minutes left of the second period. Sophomore, number 11, Cristian Correa came through on the left side of the field after first-year, number 21, Stephen Kallestad passed the ball across the goal, getting the assist.
Two minutes after the goal, senior, number three, Ali Alzawar received a red card, making them two men down for the remainder of the game.
Keene State finished the game with a record 1-4-1, and RIT finished 1-4. Keene will play again against Western Connecticut on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. at home.
