The Keene State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams opened up their season this past weekend with two matches against Colby-Sawyer and Gordon.

Both the men’s and women’s teams swept their meets in a dominating fashion. The men defeated Colby-Sawyer 174-32 and Gordon 160-61, while the women won 192-64 and 190-85.

The women’s team looked to get off to a strong start to the season and defend their LEC championship from last year. Megan Strzegowski led the one-meter dive with a score of 182.10.

The 200 medley relay was won by Allie Stewart, Maddy Fitzgerald, Samantha Taylor and Gina Nunziata.

Kiley Young, Jillian O’Neil and Amanda Davies also won their races in freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke respectively.

The men’s team also dominated multiple different events. Cooper Niles won the one-meter board with a score of 129.75. Jeremy Bartley, Ben Stafford, Zachary Perry and Aaron Turgeon combined to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:46.27. Samuel Galipeau, Aidan Urnezis and Logan Phillips also won their individual events in freestyle and fly.

Keene State will now look ahead to their next meet at St. Michaels on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m.
