As the second week of October begins, so too does the midpoint of the fall semester. Around this time of the year, students usually tend to see an increase in assignments as well as potentially having projects or exams summing up what they’ve learned thus far in the semester.
When asked about how he was feeling about the midpoint of the semester, Nick, a sophomore student, said, “I’m feeling pretty alright about it. I have a midterm later today and I have a concert in a couple weeks, but not that much work outside of class.”
For many students, however, they are in the opposite situation, and may see an uptick in the amount of work being assigned for class. When asked about the workload for his classes, and whether or not it’s increased at the semester midpoint, senior Ethan Tapman Contois stated, “What I have is mainly work to do, that is assigned every week. I have a midterm for a few classes, but mainly I have coding projects due each week.”
Midterm exams are a common occurrence in most courses, but are not a part of every course. When asked about if she had a lot of exams, junior Dierdre Noyce said, “I have a couple classes that each have exams, I think four.” When asked about whether or not she was feeling confident going into these exams, Noyce said, “I’d say, for the most part, yeah.”
