Calling all film lovers and film fanatics of Keene State College, we have the perfect club for you!
KSC film society, Senior Treasurer Matt Hanley described what happens and how KSC film operates.
“It is a great place for film lovers to come hang out, watch films and sometimes have pizza,” Hanley said.
According to President Natalie Rees, KSC film strives to make a community atmosphere centered around people who appreciate this art form and want to preserve it.
“It is a different sort of club,” Rees explained, “In the upcoming months we will be showing the film ‘The Look of Silence’ and we want to team up with the Holocaust and Genocide Studies department and have a panel about it. We are trying to integrate as many organizations as possible.”
Senior club treasurer, Matt Hanley, said “Not only does KSC film work with faculty departments, they also partner with Keene State Media to promote student produced films.”
According to James Attridge, “On Thursday nights we have special screenings and sometimes we get other clubs or faculty to have a discussion after the film.
And on October first we’re actually having a screening of films by faculty in the film department.”
The club was started roughly 15 to 20 years ago, and has been thriving since then.

for screening the movies that can be seen by everyone. KSC film society has a little bit of everything, from film majors and film lovers, even to people who know nothing about film.
“During meetings we normally just talk about films and sometimes screen movies,” Attridge said.
There are opportunities to not only participate and talk about films, but members of the club also work and help at the Putnam Theater.
“We also help program the films that play at the Putnam Theater.
So people who are really involved with the club can be involved with deciding what films we show and can even get jobs at the theater projecting the movies,” Attridge said.
The Putnam theater is right next to the Redfern, the door to the left of the stairs.
It has a lounge area where the meetings are held and there is also a theater where all the movies are shown.
“The Putnam is a great resource that a lot of students don’t know about,” Attridge said.
Keene State offers so many clubs, it is inevitable that everyone will find something that interests them.
