On Wednesday, September 16, the Redfern Arts Center at Keene State College began the semester by hosting a season kickoff party.
If you got the chance to attend, you saw a plethora of costumes, sculptures, works of art and performances by students and staff of Keene State College.

of the Redfern performed by Abby Brown, a marimba piece performed by the percussions professor, Christopher Swist, a performance by Cara Gerardi and Kenon Veno of Gruesome Playground Injuries; and those were just a little taste in what is to come from the Redfern this year.
The director of the Redfern Art Center, Shannon Mayers, said, “I’m really enthusiastic about what is in store for all the departments of the Redfern this year.”
To emphasize on her excitement, she said she decided to “shake things up” for this year’s opening.
This year Mayers worked with the music, theater, dance and art departments, along with different organizations around campus, such as WKNH, Keene 91.3 (KSC’s radio station) in order to make this year’s Season Kickoff such a success.

happening for the Redfern and the arts in general.
DJs from WKNH stopped by and helped set the mood for the event with music.
KSC junior and the Music Director of WKNH, Pat O’Donnell is one of these DJs.
“ I’m really excited to be involved with the party and hope to give some ambiance to the event,” O’Donnell said.
The event was such a success that after just a few minutes into the event, first-year student and theater major, Heather Hunt, said she hoped to be involved in next year’s opening.
“ I am excited to see whatever they put on because it is guaranteed to be awesome,” Hunt said.
Senior and theater major, Mackenzie Klem has been involved with the Redfern her entire college career and said the arts have a great effect on everyone.

“[It has a] great atmosphere for all different art forms no matter who you are,” Klem said.
In an attempt to get more people involved and to experience the Redfern, Mayers said she
is giving students six free tickets with a student membership.
