Now that Thanksgiving break is over, Keene State is getting ready to end off the semester for an even longer break.

Students are wrapping up their last week of classes, preparing for finals and are eager to end the semester off strong.

Senior Kara Moriarty shared how she is feeling now that the end of the semester is nearing.

“Usually, I am stressed by the end of the semester. I am not going to lie, this semester was not my favorite. I am ready for finals week to come just to be over with it already,” Moriarty said.

Moriarty continued to talk about ways she is able to improve for her future in the upcoming spring semester academically.

“What I learned is for myself not to procrastinate everything to the last minute and actually put more effort into my school work next semester,” she said. “Being a senior made it harder because I have been feeling checked out for a while and want to be done already.”

Sophomore Delaney Cook shared in Moriarty’s feeling of burnout.

“I feel burnt out now that it is the end of the semester because I am cramming all the studying in and finishing up last-minute assignments, but it will be worth it in the end,” said Cook. “I have to keep reminding myself I will be home soon.”

Cook continued to discuss some improvements the school could make itself.

“There are a lot of issues with this school,” Cook said. “I mean, where do I even begin? The Wi-Fi being the first, it could be better. It gets to a point where I am doing well with my workflow and the consistency of the Wi-Fi doesn’t last. The second thing being the food where it is basically the same thing every week.”

Junior Breann Lawrence agreed with Cook and said the ongoing issues at the school need major improvements and seem never-ending. Lawrence also said that with all of the “stupidity going on,” she is happy that the semester is almost over.

“Happy is an understatement because the semester is almost done and I no longer have to have the burden of feeling stressed or overwhelmed if I forgot to turn in an assignment or not,” said Lawrence.

A key takeaway to end the semester off well is by staying on track, staying strong and also prioritizing your mental health.

“I feel the same way I did for the past three years,” said senior Seth Pinton. Pinton continued to talk about how he thinks that if you continue to keep consistency in the timing you do your school work and understand time management, then being able to relax at the end of the semester is worth it.

“The end of the semester should feel relaxing. What more do you add by being stressed out, it’s the end of the semester you don’t need to stress out unless you are or have failed a class, just relax,” said Pinton.
