WKNH had to cancel its recent Grillin’ and Chillin’ event because of inclement weather, but it is not the only time you will be able to catch the station this semester.

Senior Patrick Garcia, WKNH general manager, said the club was not able to get its catering deposit back because of how close the cancellation was to the event time.

“We were waiting until the last minute for the weather because recently [it] hasn’t been super reliable,” said Garcia. He added the group has been organizing an event for Halloween and is hoping to plan some events in the spring semester, depending on budget.

WKNH has been making big moves as well, according to Garcia, with an expanding general membership and community members taking up timeslots.

“We have the most general members since I’ve started here [and] the most shows on our show schedule that we’ve ever had,” said Garcia. He added that general members have been getting more interested in joining the e-board.

“We have re-awoken a long-dormant part of the [WKNH] constitution that says we are allowed to appoint people as assistants,” said Garcia. “We are going to be appointing some of those interested people [general members] as assistants and opening up committees to them as an option for them to get their feet wet.”

According to Garcia, there has been interest in music director, event coordinator and public relations coordinator. He said he is hoping new students who are interested in joining the e-board can become more acquainted with each other with the reinstatement of assistantships.

“Most of the issues we’ve had on this e-board have been with us not knowing each other well enough,” said Garcia.

The organization is currently running with roughly 30 members and 40 shows on the schedule, added Garcia. There have been two or three Keene community members who showed interest in a radio show and have recently started airing, with the anticipation of one or two more to join by the end of the semester, said Garcia.
