On Thursday, March 6, at 9:27 p.m., another motor vehicle hit-and-run incident occurred in the Pondside 2 parking lot on campus, with no reported injuries from the incident. This accident comes just 10 days after another hit-and-run was reported in the Pondside 2 lot on February 24.
The accident report, provided by Director of Campus Safety and Compliance Chris Buckley, detailed that as a 2018 red Ford Escape attempted to pull into an open space, it hit a parked 2009 Hyundai Sonata. As the SUV pulled back out, it hit the car again and drove off. A witness saw the incident and alerted campus safety.
According to the report, Campus Safety Officers John Clark and John Bates were dispatched to the Pondside 2 lot to respond to a possible hit-and-run. Clark and Bates then responded to the scene and met with the eyewitness, who had taken photos of the Ford Escape.
After reviewing the witness’s photos, the officers located the Escape and found evidence of an accident, including white paint and slight scraping on the driver’s side, left front bumper and left side of the car, consistent with the witness’s description.
Campus safety ran the license plate and identified the owner of the Escape. Campus safety then located the students who owned the Escape and the Sonata. Keene Police Department was also notified to take a report of the incident and KPD also spoke with the students involved. Campus safety and KPD obtained student information and statements, and at this time, no further action was taken.
