On Saturday, March 8, The Equinox and WKNH joined forces to launch Media Org Madness—an event that united a diverse range of KSC organizations from film, radio and news under one roof for a night of tabling, trivia and an Adam Sandler look-alike contest.
The room buzzed with energy as attendees indulged in food and engaged in trivia and other activities.
“The goal was to bring all these different organizations from various media spaces around campus to one place,” said junior Nathan Hope, the administrative executive editor of The Equinox. “We want this to be an annual event, the first of many.”
Hope also expressed gratitude towards sophomore and Equinox Art Director Elijah Fisher, who had created posters that were distributed around campus to promote the event, and to sophomore Multimedia Director Jakob Hall, whose trailers further amplified its reach.
During the Adam Sandler look-alike competition, contestants took to the stage, each delivering their unique take on the New Hampshire-raised actor, while a panel of judges including a representative from each media organization evaluated every performance.
“ I didn’t expect to win, so it was a wonderful surprise!” contest winner and sophomore Alonzo Smith stated.
Reflecting on the contest, Smith expressed their surprise and joy.
“I got a $60 Bull Moose gift card, which is a dream come true for me as a music and movie lover,” Smith stated.
“My friends really wanted to go, and I thought it would be a fun time!” said first-year Tagora Mortensen, a WKNH member. “I loved all the food, the creative crafts, and most of all, being with my friends.”
Media Org Madness provided a forum for friendly competition while also laying the groundwork for a new tradition at KSC.
With future plans already underway, this inaugural event’s organizers aim to evolve into an annual celebration that not only showcases film, radio and news but also connects students who may be interested in joining these organizations here at Keene State.
