The Social Activities Council (SAC) hosted a promotional event for the 2025 Spring Concert attendees could paint mugs featuring this year’s concert logo depicting Waka Flocka Flame’s name. The event was held on Saturday, March 8 in the Night Owl Café.
“We were trying to think of some creative ways that we could advertise the concert now that we have the name revealed,” said SAC President Ashleigh Moroni. “We thought of a way to do some sort of limited release merchandise item.”
Moroni said SAC is currently planning for Springfest, an annual series of events leading up to the Spring Concert.
“We’ll have three days of programming, two days leading up to the concert,” Moroni said. “We’re hoping to do a big block party-style event to kick it all off, and then some additional programming Saturday to make a whole weekend out of it.”
Moroni said SAC is still finalizing the programming for Springfest and more details are to come.
Moroni said that when it comes to event turnout, numbers rise in the early fall and late spring.
“We definitely get a lot more turnout because students are out of their dorms and willing to participate in things,” she said. “We’re very intentional with how we market what we do, and that is probably another bigger reason why we put a lot of our performers [in the] early spring when everything outside is crappy, and it gives students a chance to escape.”
Moroni said she believes it is important to host events like this on college campuses.
“I think there’s so much more to college than just academics,” she said. “Yes, that is the central reason we all came here, but college is also about making the most of opportunities and trying things in a risk-free environment.”
First-year Haley Rivers said she enjoyed the event.
“I just think it’s really fun,” she said. “I think it was a good idea.”
Riley Macedo, also a first-year, said she also had a good time.
“I think this is a fun idea, especially since painting is relaxing and [it’s] school-funded,” she said.
First-year Kennedy Cramer said she had fun.
“I think this is a good way to bring the community together,” she said.
Moroni said that future events SAC is planning include a “Taste the World” food event in the works for the end of March.
