“I love the phrase ‘jack of all trades, master of none,’” said senior Ashleigh Moroni, who met with The Equinox during the hour leading up to her next meeting.
Moroni is currently serving as the president of the Class of 2025, president of the Social Activities Council (SAC), vice president of recruitment for the KSC Panhellenic Council, a member of Phi Sigma Sigma (Theta Zeta Chapter) and marketing coordinator and graphic design aid for the KSC Make-A-Wish Club, an organization she helped build.
On top of that, Moroni is serving as building manager and programming and marketing manager for the KSC Office of Student Involvement, dual-majoring in education and graphic design and volunteering with the Alternative Break program.
“I’m a big proponent of making every memory possible. I will get up and go on a road trip at three in the morning. To make a memory is worth it,” said Moroni.
“I love the spontaneity and chaos that comes with having a memory-filled life, and a lot of the involvement opportunities for me have been opportunities to make more of those memories. When you try something new, the worst that happens is failure and I don’t see failure as a good reason to not try something new,” added Moroni.
Moroni came to Keene State College armed with an expansive resume of involvement.
Having participated in her high school theater program, dance programs, Rotary Club, soccer and a rifle competition team, Moroni found herself eager to become immersed in everything a college experience could offer.
Moroni said her experiences with work and high school involvement encouraged her to always have something to do.
“This has always been my life, and if I didn’t have so much going on, I’m not sure I’d know what to do with my free time,” said Moroni.
After graduation, Moroni is planning on pursuing a career in student affairs.
“I have wanted to be a teacher since I was five years old, and I still have a great passion for teaching. What I realized is that what I have the greatest passion for is being able to have an impact on a kid and being able to improve a person’s life, and the more social, emotional and connection-based parts of education are what I was the most passionate about, rather than just teaching content,” said Moroni.
“Through being in college and the involvement and opportunities I’ve had through the professional staff members, it became clear to me that working in student affairs was an option and an ideal place for the things I enjoy doing,” added Moroni.
Moroni encouraged students to embrace new opportunities.
“I believe in saying yes to as much as you can. That doesn’t mean take on everything under the sun, and I’ve had to encourage friends to take time for themselves. But say yes to anything you know you can take on, and that includes friends and memories and non-academic things too.”
Moroni said although academics are important, students should find more to take away from the college experience.
“Take the midnight drive. Get up early and watch the sunrise from the top of Mount Monadnock. Do the things you’re going to remember,” added Moroni.
Senior and President of the KSC Make-A-Wish Club Chelsea Gerali said Moroni is known for being a caring person.
“She’s always been willing to jump into any opportunity to be there for people and help them get through whatever situation they’re going through, and she’s always been there for me,” said Gerali.
Senior Coordinator of Student Involvement and Wellbeing Emily Alexander has worked alongside Moroni in both the student involvement office and the SAC.
According to Alexander, Moroni is a model student-employee.
“I think [Moroni] is very motivated, very organized and really cares about the work she does,” said Alexander.
“I truly believe that as she moves on in her higher education career and journey, she’ll be extremely successful,” added Alexander.
Alexander encouraged Moroni to keep pushing forward after graduation.
“I would encourage her to keep being herself, and continue doing all the hard work she does, because she’ll continue to make a great impact on people’s lives and experiences,” said Alexander.
“She’s definitely on the right path,” added Alexander.
