Red and White Night went off with a bang at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, with students in the senior class gathering for the evening.
Red and White Night is organized by the KSC Class of 2025 Student Government for the graduating class of Keene State College to gather with friends and classmates to socialize and reminisce on their years on campus. The student government organized the event in the Zorn Dining Commons with food being catered and a wet bar with alcohol for those over the age of 21.
Ethan Davis, senior and treasurer for the Class of 2025, said the planning of this event was, “[over] the course of four years,” adding that executive board membership has been consistent over the years. Members have been “taking notes” at past Red and White events to plan how they would like theirs to turn out.
Davis said that people do not realize how much planning and effort it requires to host an event of this scale. He added that one of his main focuses with the e-board was to not worry solely about cost but also be concerned with aesthetics, saying, “You get what you pay for.”
Additionally, Davis said one of the most unique aspects of this year’s Red and White was the “sense of community,” adding the college’s alumni and parent association donated supplies for the centerpieces. The KSC Office of Community Living donated decorations and former members of WKNH DJ’d the event.
Senior Grace Donia said, “Getting everyone together is so wholesome and I love getting to see all my friends.”
Senior Sara Miller voiced interest about being able to go to a function on campus, catching up with friends and meeting new people as well.
“It’s nice to have an event where you can dress up and come see each other and meet new people outside of your own friend group,” Miller said.
Senior Jason Leslie said he valued the community aspect of the event, “It shows we have [a] good community as a school.”
Senior Paige Lech said, “Everyone comes together and it’s great.”
