The Keene State’s Swimming and Diving athletes hosted a sprint pentathlon in their season opener on Saturday, Oct. 12.
The Owls hosted Norwich University, the University of New England, Gordon College and Plymouth State University.
Senior men’s swim Captain Arron Turgeon began the new season the same as he left the previous one, placing in the top three in four different events. Turgeon also won by a 16-second margin in a 50-yard butterfly that clocked in at 25.24. The combined times of his five events placed him in third behind two Norwich athletes.
Top Keene State women’s diver Megan Strzegowski began this season where she left off, winning the one-meter dive with a score of 226.80. The sophomore took home “Rookie Diver of the Year” for the Little East Conference (LEC) during her first year at KSC.
A new addition to the team, Tallulah Going, a transfer from Central Connecticut State University, began her Owl career placing third in the 50-freestyle and fifth in the 50-backstroke. The sophomore also contributed to a third-place finish in the 200-medley relay.
The men’s 200-medley relay was also able to place, bringing home second place in an event where Norwich seemed to win everything.
The Keene State Swimming and Diving team will host St. Michaels at the Spaulding Pool in their next meet on Saturday, Oct. 19.
