As a team, the members of the KSC Men’s Club Soccer team came together one last time this season to play a game against the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass Amherst).
The Owls lost the game on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the Owl Athletic Complex 2-1 and had a collective of sevens yellow cards and two red cards.
In the final minutes of the game, Alex Dyer and Sean Duran-Collie received red cards after altercations with the UMass Amherst players. As a result the Owls were left with two players down on the field in the pivotal final moments of the game.
President Dylan Bisaillon commented, “There’s no coach and it can be hard to keep the guys in check and I try to be friendly but sometimes it’s hard to be that coach for them as well.”
There is no coach for the team and instead students elect a president for the club. As Bisaillon is the president he takes on various responsibilities to keep the team moving throughout the season.
“I set up the games and practices, the hardest part is figuring when guys are going to play and how many minutes they get,” Bisaillon said. “I feel bad when kids show up to play and it’s nothing personal but it can’t always be equal playing.”
This season overall for the Owls finished with two wins, five losses, and one forfeit. The team had an overall total of 13 yellow cards and two red cards out of the five games they had.
“The season went pretty well, last year we won our only scrimmage but then lost the rest of the games so we’ve been improving in every facet of the club,” said Bisaillon.
Keene State Men’s Club Soccer team is a student-run organization for individuals looking to play a competitive game against other teams in New England every fall semester.
