The ATM located on the first floor of the student center was removed on Sept. 11.
A notice was put on the outside of the ATM by the Office of Student Involvement regarding its removal.
The notice read, “This ATM will be removed by the bank on or around September 15th, 2024. It will not be replaced. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause.”
The posting also instructed students to go to nearby banks such as GFA Federal Credit Union, Savings Bank of Walpole and Citizens Bank which have ATMs located within less than a mile of campus.
Prior to its removal, Building Operations Coordinator Wade Newer issued a statement to The Equinox via email.
The email said, “It’s scheduled for removal on 9/11. Now you know everything I do about it.”
Martha Gaston, TD Bank senior corporate communications manager provided a statement from the company stating, “TD Bank has enjoyed providing ATM services at Keene State College but made the decision to remove the ATM due to minimal usage since 2021. TD customers are welcome to visit us at 194 W Street in Keene to use the ATM or in-store banking services.”
Regarding the ATM, sophomore Sydney Shuman said, “I completely forgot it was there. I won’t lie.”
Sophomore Jace Nestler also stated, “I didn’t even know we had one to be honest.”
Another student, sophomore Jack Acciardo said he recalls the machine needing maintenance often. “I remember sometime last year I tried to use it and it didn’t work; after that I just assumed it was broken.”
