A poll conducted by The Equinox found out what KSC student’s favorite coffee place is. There are some students who said they love it and can never go without it. Other students said they hate it and would prefer to have alternative energy drinks instead.. In this poll there were some questions asked like, “Preferred places to get coffee?” and, “Caffeinated versus Decaffeinated,” and, finally, the question, “What are your thoughts with what we have available on campus for coffee?” We were able to find out the go-to coffee places the KSC community prefers to go to, whether that is at our on-campus Starbucks and or the Dining Commons (DC), or if it was somewhere that is off campus. There seemed to be a tie between Dunkin Donuts (which was the most common place that was mentioned), Aroma Joes, Brewbakers, and, of course, Starbucks. We were able to get many responses from people in the KSC community.

Senior Grace Watsonsaid she prefers Dunkin. “I wish we had more options, I would love to see more local products/drinks/food on campus,” said Watson. Senior Sofia El Hakim also prefers Dunkin Donuts. El Hakim said, “Starbucks is okay, [it] would be better if we had more local options on campus.”

Senior Bridgette McGrath prefers coffee from Prime Roast Coffee Co or The Works.

McGrath said the coffee on campus is, “expensive, [it] doesn’t taste good, [they] don’t have oat milk. $3.09 for an iced coffee.”

Sophomore Robert Aguiar said, “I don’t drink coffee, but The Works has good hot chocolate.” He mentioned, “I think that Starbucks caters to a specific type of coffee drinker, but for cheaper coffee it’s not the best option.”

There were even some faculty and staff that participated in this poll. Allie Itzi, who is a professor here at KSC, prefers to, “bring freshly made coffee from home, but will on a rare occasion swing by Dunkin [Donuts].”

Keith Stevens, who is a faculty member here at KSC, does prefer Dunkin Donuts and said
that what is available on campus is, “ok, not on campus during coffee drinking hours, so
not really familiar.”

Everyone had their preferences. There were a lot of comments and complaints about how people would love to see a Dunkin Donuts on campus instead of Starbucks. Many had said that Dunkin Donuts is a much cheaper option and has a lot more flavors to offer. People said that Starbucks is too expensive for the people who just can’t afford a cup of coffee that costs around $3.09 to even $5.00.
