On Saturday, September 25, the Keene State Women’s Soccer team lost their first LEC conference game 5-0 at home against Western Connecticut.
This loss puts the Owls record at 2-5-1 and WestConn is 8-0 plus 2-0 in the LEC conference.
Even though the game wasn’t exactly close on the scoreboard KSC still had nine shots and five on target. The Owls were unable to break the shut out. Junior Kayleigh Marshall had four of the five shots on target for Keene but was unable to put her chances away.
WestConn started their scoring fast with an unassisted goal in the first five minutes of the first half from first-year Kyla Norton. Junior Myah Croze took over the game by giving herself a hat trick, scoring three goals throughout the entirety of the game. Croze scored her first goal in the 15th minute, getting assisted by senior Lillian Daniels. In the same half, Croze scored again in the 29th minute assisted by first-year Suzana Imetovski.
One minute into the second half Croze got her third and final goal that was assisted by Norton. Imetovski scored WestConn’s last goal of the game in the 48th minute. WestConn would end with 13 shots and 11 of them on target. Abbie Terrinca, Keene’s goalie, had six saves in this game. KSC had nine fouls and WestConn had three. Keene State will be playing Plymouth State Wednesday, September 29 at Arold Field.
