In a rainy game, the Keene State College field hockey team took on the Plymouth State University Panthers in Plymouth, New Hampshire, on April 21.
In a slow first period, the Owls received 17 fouls.
The first goal of the game would be scored by the Panthers in the second period. This would be followed nearly two minutes later by Owls sophomore forward Ellie Hunkins, with an assist from senior defense Jordyn Martin. This marks Hunkins’ fifth goal of the season.
Another goal was scored seconds later by Owls senior forward Nina Bruno, with an assist from first-year defense Demetria Gonzales, bringing the score to 2-1 Owls. The second period would see an additional four shots, two from Bruno and two from Martin.
The third period was another slow period, with neither team scoring a goal. Plymouth State scored another goal within the first five minutes of the fourth and final quarter, tying the score 2-2.
Less than three minutes later, Owls sophomore midfielder Chase Lambert scored the game winning goal, bringing the final score to 3-2 Owls. Lambert would make another shot, though unsuccessful. Bruno also made two additional unsuccessful shots.
A lightning delay would bring the game to a halt in the last three minutes of the period. The game was called with only two minutes left of the period.
