The Lloyd P. Young Student Center was flooded with students for the Student Involvement Fair that took place on campus Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015.
Many different organizations had their tables set up with goodies, pencils and candy to get their organizations to stand out.
Fifty tables were filled with student organizations including student government, sororities and fraternities, Fair Trade Club, alternative spring break options, community service and many others.
Susie Udall, a first-year student, said, “I joined student government because of the involvement fair in the fall.”
She continued, “I wouldn’t have known so much about it if it wasn’t for the table they had set up.”
Udall also said she thinks the involvement fair is really important because it is a good way to meet people.
Udall said, “As a freshman I was nervous about going to the first meeting, but being able to meet some of the people at the fair really helped.”
She continued, “It’s always nice to see a friendly face when you walk into a room for the first time.”

Another student, Bryanna Pearson, also said she thinks the involvement fair is beneficial for students.
Pearson is part of the Social Activities Council [SAC].
Pearson said, “The Student Involvement Fair can get students to go down avenues they might not have really known about if they hadn’t stopped by the student center.”
“Students can get involved in school activities and on campus opportunities,” Pearson continued.
KSC Senior Jessica Allen couldn’t believe all that Keene State College had to offer.
Allen said, “Many students are unaware of all that Keene State has to offer for them. I know I was.”
“By having something like the Student
Involvement Fair people really get to know what’s going on with the school, and all the cool opportunities Keene State students have,” Allen added.
Allen was most interested in the alternative spring break options and SAC.
“There’s so many awesome things that can be done for spring break, helping people is a really nice thing to do,” she said.
“I wouldn’t have known about all the different options if I wasn’t on campus today,” Allen explained.
Allen gave her email to many different organizations, including SAC, during the involvement fair to receive updates about meetings and events.
“Maybe being part of SAC will get my friends more interested in attending school events, like the fall and spring concerts,” Allen said.
“Hopefully being a part of the organization can give me a chance to spread my ideas and encourage new fun campus events,” Allen continued.
Amy Richo, who is already a part of SAC, said, “SAC and executive board provide alternatives for students, so they aren’t spending their time drinking.”
Pearson said during the Student Involvement Fair they had about 25 people sign up for SAC.
“People seemed very excited about all the things Social Activities Council had to offer,” Pearson said. She continued, “I hope everyone continues to be involved, making the school a more fun place for all students.”
