While being in college, students are able to take multiple classes a semester, some for their major and some for fun to get extra credits. This gives students time to explore new interests, develop skills and discover what they enjoy learning. While every student has different goals and interests, some college classes tend to stand out as favorites.
Some classes are more hands-on courses and creative electives, and students often enjoy classes that make learning interesting, useful and fun. With all the classes offered here at KSC, The Equinox sought to discover what different students’ favorite classes are that they have taken so far in their college career.
First-year student Bella Partridge, an Elementary Ed major, said that her favorite class was her gen-ed thinking and writing class because “the professor is nice and helpful with the schoolwork.”
Some students’ favorite classes align directly with their major. Sophia Tomany, an exercise science major, said, “My favorite class is my exercise science class because it is for my major but also helps with working out when I feel like I don’t have time during the day too.” Another student, sophomore criminal justice and psychology major Ariana Barboa, also said that their criminology class was their favorite because it was a part of their major and something they were interested in.
Some students take on classes outside their major that they wind up enjoying. “I took logical argumentation; it was really fun, actually,” said Alex Osgood, a sophomore majoring in political science, legal studies and acting.
Sophomore biology major Tayah Quinn said her favorite class was statistics because it taught her different things. Students may enjoy these classes because they can see how the information applies to everyday life and their future careers.
While being in college, students get the opportunity to discover new passions, meet different people and gain knowledge that lasts a lifetime. Classes that students enjoy can encourage them to learn and grow in the college environment.
