The Keene State Men’s Soccer team took on the University of Southern Maine (USM) Huskies on Saturday, Oct. 3. The game ended in a 0-0 tie, leaving its record 1-7-3 overall and 0-2-2 in the Little East Conference (LEC). A very notable attribute of the game was the Owls’ defense and relentlessness to stop any goals.

At the start of the game, USM had lots of trial and error. In the first 10 minutes, the Huskies attempted 2 shots that missed the target and later attempted an additional 3 during the first half of the game. First-year goalkeeper Tommaso Lorrai ensured the Huskies did not score throughout the entirety of the game. Lorrai had two saves, one for each half and saved a shot off the goalpost from USM senior defender Liam Connelly.

The Owls kept six players for the full 90 minutes of the game, only subbing four off the bench. Junior midfielder Luke Belisle had 2 shots along with sophomore forward Luke Hartshorn. Additionally, senior defender William Edmunds and sophomore midfielder Lapo Cabianca each got a shot. The Owls had a total of 8 shots, including 2 shots on goal. They finished the game with 4 offsides, 9 fouls, 5 corners, and 2 saves.
