Spring time is finally here and it’s starting to get nice.

It’s time to get into the yummy fruit season.

There are many fruits this time of year has to offer. They are not just very delicious, but they are very nutritious.

Sometimes grocery stores do offer off-season fruits; however, they may be pricey.

Now is the time to take advantage of the great fruit that spring and summer have to offer.

Berries: Blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries are super food that have been given the title of the number one food to eat.

These berries are delicious and are full of antioxidants that help keep you healthy and well.

There are many ways to eat berries.

They are great on their own, but they also work well in other foods such as cereals, yogurt, oatmeal, and smoothies.

They are low in calories and are great to enhance the flavor of bland foods like oatmeal.

Instead of buying cinnamon apple oatmeal, which is loaded in sugar, get plain whole rolled oats, prepare as usual, and load with fresh mixed berries.

It’s a great tasty breakfast that will keep you satisfied for hours and keep you healthy.

A great snack when hungry and craving something sweet is mixed berries frozen or fresh with frozen Cool Whip on top.

This gives a similar taste and feel of ice cream but without all the fat and sugar. It will provide you with the dessert you are craving.

Peaches: Peaches are another great food now coming into season.

Due to their bright orangey-red color, they contain flavanoids, phytochemicals, iron potassium, and vitamin C.

These compounds and nutrients help to maintain a healthy body.

The vitamin C content helps to create a healthy immune system, which is good because no one wants to be sick during the warm months of the year.

Peaches also contain a lot of fiber, which will help regulate your digestive system.

A great snack to have is some cut up peaches with low fat vanilla yogurt, whipped cream (in moderation), or cottage cheese.

Berries and peaches are great to pick at your local orchard.

It’s a fun activity for you, your friends, and your family.

It’s a great way to get some fresh air while also engaging in some physical activity and exercise.

Not to mention you will bring home some healthy and delicious snacks!

Coming into season, but closer to the summer, are melons such as cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon. Melons are another great fruit to eat.

They contain a lot of flavanoids and phytochemicals. Melons are very low in calories and contain a lot of water. This is important for those hot summer months when keeping hydrated is a must.

Take advantage of these fruits when they are fresh and ready to eat.

These fruits are now in season, which means you will not be spending lots of money on the fruits that you love and enjoy the most!
