We used to be a nation where a mere misdemeanor charge on a record or a single instance of cannabis usage could deter the entire country from voting a President into Office. However, in the present day, we currently have a convicted felon in Office whose decade-spanning relationship with one of the most grotesque, demonic sex traffickers of all time is common knowledge, and a good portion of the country does not even bat an eye.
The cult of personality that President Donald Trump has calculatedly cultivated through propaganda, fearmongering and blood money that has catapulted him into the highest office of the free world would take several articles to dissect. However, due to the ongoing conflict in Iran, the President recently put out on social media that the country should be proud to witness the decimation of an entire civilization at the hands of the United States, and more of the nation is beginning to understand the genuine crisis we have on our hands in the form of our president.
As a result, the NAACP has called for Trump to be removed from Office under the 25th Amendment. The NAACP is the largest and oldest civil rights organization in the country, and this is the first time the organization has ever called for the impeachment of a president.
According to naacp.org, “The rhetoric and actions emanating from the highest office in the land has reached a level of instability that poses a direct threat to the well-being of millions of Americans and the integrity of our armed forces.”
Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP, said, “The rhetoric and behavior we are witnessing from Trump isn’t just alarming, it’s dangerous. When the person entrusted with the highest office in the land demonstrates a disregard for truth, stability, and the well-being of the American people, it’s a threat to the entire nation and the world. Trump must be immediately removed from office,” according to the NAACP’s website.
There is a glaring issue here which is that the 25th Amendment needs to be enacted by the Vice President and the Cabinet, and considering every single member of our current cabinet acts as a singular unit with one bouncing brain cell that only exists to funnel money and praise Trump in any and every capacity to the extent that he could commit mass genocide, that will simply never happen. Ever.
Regardless, an organization as large and impactful as the NAACP calling for any form of impeachment of the president for the first time in its 117-year history is a massive deal. This should be enough for any person who voted red back in 2024 to re-examine their decision if they haven’t already started to do so after Trump’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement office started blatantly shooting Americans in our streets for simply protesting on behalf of their neighbors.
Additionally, Congressman John Larson, a Democrat representing Connecticut, recently submitted HR 1155, 13 articles of impeachment to the U.S. House. This means multiple parties have made calls for and moves towards impeachment, and we haven’t even reached the halfway mark of this presidency.
I guess for me, as massive as this all seems, it is hard to have any hope that impeachment could genuinely occur. I mean, the Epstein files have been public for months now and there has not even been a single arrest made. I feel that we are in a time where power can be abused and life can be harmed so extremely and there is simply no accountability. At the end of the day, I believe it is Trump and his team’s sole goal to see just how far they can push the limits of legality and morality in front of our eyes and get away with it unscathed.
With that being said, while I don’t have much hope that impeachment will become a reality, I do have hope for the future beyond this dark chapter of our history. I believe to a certain extent that Trump’s blatant, public disregard for the law and the lives of the country he currently runs is exposing the loopholes and corruption in our governmental systems that have existed solely in the shadows for too long. I believe the upcoming generations are being given a unique opportunity to see firsthand just how horribly our systems have failed us and make the change that past generations could not.
I think everyone has to hold on to faith that all of the horror around us does not have to remain intact. We can dismantle the systems that have allowed injustice and suffering to define our legacy. We must keep paying attention to the actions of this cabinet that they do not want us to see or understand. We must keep advocating for impeachment and an end to the rising fascism making a home in our Oval Office, even if we do not truly believe it can happen before 2028. We must keep learning, speaking and helping our neighbors. A faithless generation is a defeated generation, and we cannot let this administration defeat us.
