A partnership between two local churches will ensure that Keene’s overnight warming shelter remains open every night in March.
The overnight warming shelter at The United Church of Christ is slated to run until the end of March, but the space at Central Square won’t be available on the nights of March 8 and 13, said J Rollings, operations manager at Hundred Nights.
For those two nights, the warming shelter will move to St. James Episcopal Church at 44 West St.
Since opening Jan. 20, the overnight warming shelter had served 27 people as of Friday. The shelter has 20 beds, and has accommodated an average of 10 to 13 people each night this season, according to Rollins. The warming shelter runs from 9 p.m. until 7 a.m.
Hundred Nights also operates a permanent 48-bed shelter on Water Street. The organization hosted the warming shelter in its resource room in the past, but is no longer able to do so.
