The Owls had another successful athletic week, having four more of their own student-athletes recognized by the Little East Conference (LEC). It has been a strong 2025 campaign for a lot of KSC athletes, getting constant recognition from the league.
First-year women’s golfer Sadie Murray swept the women’s golf awards this week, receiving Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week. Sadie placed fourth at the Keene State invitational, shooting an 87 on a par 72, including a pair of birdies in the round.
“My putting has been pretty good for me,” Murray said. “I’ve spent a lot of time one-on-one with my coach working on putting because your short game is where you save all of your shots … also working on different scenarios and situations at practice and having our coach put us in those tough spots and just trying to learn and figure out how to approach them.”
Murray said she is looking to continue her strong start to the season and carry it into the team’s last few matches.
Another Keene golfer received an award, this time from the men’s team. First-year Taylor Miller was awarded Men’s Golf Rookie of the Week after having a strong showing at the KSC Invitational. Miller shot two over par (73) and earned medalist honors for the first time in his collegiate career.
“Everyone on the team’s been super fun,” Miller said. “We’ve been playing every day, and when golf’s fun like that, it’s not like you’re forced to go out and play at practice, [you’re] just going out with your friends and playing some fun golf. When you get to do that every day, when it’s time to play in competition, it makes it more fun,” said Miller.
The men’s soccer team had a pair of awards handed out as well. Junior forward Cristian Correa was named LEC Offensive Player of the Week. Correa, with five goals already this season, has been off to an outstanding start for the Owls so far.
“A big thing for me is confidence and also just having the experience and being more simple at times,” Correa said. “I think I am better at managing situations and seeing things through and then the experience and confidence has allowed me to do the things I want to do to be successful.”
Correa has led the Owls in scoring and will look to continue his dominant offensive play to help KSC finish off the regular season strong.
KSC’s other recipient was senior goaltender Eldin Husanovic, who stopped seven of eight shots in the team’s 1-1 draw against University of Massachusetts Boston.
“All the work that I did in the summer, just training twice a week and training with teams, is really helping me progress through this season, just getting that confidence up every single day, especially since the first game against Worcester State. After coming out for every cross, taking many hits, the training just helped me throughout really the whole season,” said Husanovic.
The Owls have been getting lots of recognition around the league and will look to continue that during this final push of the 2025 season.
