Are you ready to jump into fall with the Social Activities Council (SAC)? The fall festival last Friday was the third event SAC has put on this semester, along with Stuff-A-Plush and bungee jumping at the student involvement fair.
Senior Kerrin Shea, president of SAC, talked about childhood nostalgia and bringing a fair-style event to campus.
“A lot of students miss out on going to the fall fairs they grew up going to now that they’re at school and without their family,” Shea said. “I know it’s one of the biggest things I miss about being home.”
Another event Shea looks forward to is laser tag in the Mabel Brown Room on September 27 from 2-5 p.m.
Shea and SAC are also planning a movie night and mini golf for later in the semester.
“We have some things in the works, a Halloween movie night with some treats. We’re looking at glow-in-the-dark mini golf as well.”
SAC’s executive board meets every Monday to discuss events they are planning and events they have finished. Shea said the board moved in early to start planning for Stuff-A-Plush that happened the Friday after students returned.
“We move into campus about a week earlier than most so we can do some leadership and organizational training.”
“We planned Stuff-A-Plush over summer because it was the Friday everyone was back on campus. It had to be done and purchased, everything had to be set and ready,” said Shea.
Anyone interested in becoming a general member of SAC can attend its bi-weekly meetings on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. in the Madison Street Lounge.
