KSC Field Hockey defeated the Lancers of Worcester State University on Saturday with a final score of 6-3. Coming off a close win against Colby-Sawyer College, the Owls continued their strong start to their 2025 season with a solid offensive effort.
Keene came firing out of the gate with a few early shots that were saved by Worcester’s Lizzy MacDonald.
The first seven minutes were all Keene State, with senior Captain Grace Bazin having multiple opportunities to score. The ice was broken at the 8:44 minute mark with first-year forward Emma Bazin’s first career goal.
Worcester answered shortly after with a goal at the 11-minute mark from first-year forward Kaylie Ciccone.
The second period started with more pressure from Grace Bazin. The senior put the Owls up 2-1 at the 17:50 minute mark.
It was all Keene State Field Hockey for the ensuing minutes after this goal, with multiple shots from Keene that were stopped by MacDonald, who ended up finishing this contest with 19 total saves.
The closing minutes of the second period were full of shots and pressure from the Owls from Emma Bazin and senior forward, Kalina Piasecki.
The Owls went into halftime with plenty of momentum and a lead that they could carry into the third.
The Owls started the third period with a bang, with junior Captain and forward, Meghan Daileanes, burying Keene’s third goal at the 32:02 minute mark.
Worcester gained pressure following this goal with one of their own from sophomore forward Kylie Casey.
In a close one-goal game, the Owls were looking for some breathing room in the closing minutes of the third quarter. With shots from Grace Bazin and junior forward Elyse Picard, the Owls were piling up the opportunities. The Owls scored their fourth of the game at the 41:56 minute mark, with another goal from Grace Bazin. The Owls were up two going into the fourth period.
Keene State came in with immediate pressure at the start of the fourth period. In the first minute with junior midfielder Grace Seabury scored KSC’s fifth goal at the 46:58 minute mark.
The Lancers weren’t done yet, as shortly after the Owls scored their fifth, Worcester cut the lead right back down to two with Ciccone scoring her second goal of the contest at the 52:50 minute mark
The Owls capped off their dominant performance with their sixth goal coming from Piasecki at the 58:19 minute mark. The performance overall led to another KSC victory and added another win to the undefeated season.
KSC Field Hockey will now head to Westfield State University’s Alumni Field on Thursday, Sept. 11, in a 7 p.m. matchup against the Massachusetts team.
