For the upcoming academic year, the Keene.edu website is going to be receiving an overhaul in terms of visual design and additions.

Chad Cassin, the director of online strategies at KSC, explained some of the expected changes.

“Right now, our focus is specifically around the enrollment side, prospective students and their families and those audiences,” Cassin said. “That would be things like the admissions portion, financial aid, all the places that connect to that,”

Cassin said campus life and academic programs also connect to those topics.

“The second phase is to move all the more internal-facing content afterwards,” Cassin added.

Cassin also discussed potential additions to the website.

“Those things [additions] would be mostly in regards to the pathways and how people are navigating the site,” Cassin explained. “Content-wise, we’re moving towards helping prospective students better find academic programs through some sort of filtering mechanism. That won’t be live right at launch, but that’s really something we’ve been pushing for, knowing that many of our students do come in undecided or they’re considering multiple programs, to make sure that everything shows up and surfaces for them as they’re searching for a college.”

Cassin also discussed the last time the site was updated. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the site received a redesign around 2017 that included some noticeable differences, such as new features and visuals.

“The last full redesign was an overhaul from a different content management system,” said Cassin. “Visual design differences, some user analysis, to figure out what people are looking for, how they’re getting there, those sorts of things.”

Cassin shed some light on how the website might look after the redesign.

“The visual design will be more in line with how our brand standards and visual design standards have evolved,” Cassin said. “It’s mostly a more contemporary looking visual design. It will look drastically different than the existing site, in the sense that there’s a lot more white space. Things that people expect now.”

“We’re looking at rolling out the first changes during the summer,” Cassin explained. “We’re still trying to finalize when that first push out will happen.”
