Following previous Equinox reporting published April 10, an inquiry was made regarding the sudden increase in funding requests KSC Student Assembly received from student organizations when completing the budgetary process this spring, which totaled approximately $230,000.
The Equinox previously reported enrollment for the 2025-2026 academic year had increased, according to Vice President of Enrollment and Student Engagement MB Lufkin.
However, in a recent interview with Jen Ferrell, associate vice president for student engagement, when asked about the incoming student activity fees from the proposed enrollment numbers she said numbers were slightly down.
“There is a slight increase in the student activity fee, however, the budgeted enrollment numbers for next year are less than this current year,” said Ferrell.
Ferrell acknowledged in an interview this was the second year of budgeting for all student organizations. However, she also attributed the increase in requests to the addition of a new student club.
According to an email from Nathalie Houder, vice president for finance and administration, student activity fees increased from $2,956 in academic year (AY) 2023-2024 to $3,030 in AY 2024-2025.
A follow-up email was sent for clarification and a further breakdown of financial allocations of student activity monies, which has not been answered as of publication.
