Living on campus can play a big role in students’ lives socially and academically. Reported by students, there are buildings that are better than others. Students can choose to reside in different dormitory buildings on campus.
According to the Keene State website regarding residential life, approximately 85% of students on campus choose to live here during college. The website also states, “Research shows that students who live on campus do better academically and have a greater chance of graduating.”
Keene State students were asked which dorm on campus is their favorite.
The Pondside area was favored by two students.
Junior Kate Whitney said, “Pondside 3 was my favorite dorm to live in. The rooms are a decent size, and the suite is nice with a pretty view of the pond, it’s just vibes there. The pool table and game room are really nice, and the design and architecture of the building are supposed to be eco-friendly, which I like.”
“The kitchen is also super big and all the appliances are updated, I used to bake a lot there,” continued Whitney.
Junior Anna White said, “The best dorm I lived in was Carle Hall because everyone hung out with each other and it was such a tight community.”
“I have not lived in the Pondside 2 apartments, but they are really nice and I think it is cool that the school offers apartment-style living,” added White.
One student explained his transition to One Butler Court and why it is his favorite.
First-year Garrett Emery said, “My first semester of my freshman year, I lived in the [Living and Learning] Commons, and the second semester, I got the community assistant position and was moved to Butler. I think Butler is the best place to live because I get to live with other people that I like.”
Another student mentioned living in the commons and why it is the best.
Junior Emelia Shea said, “I think the best dorm is the commons because the rooms are a little bit smaller, so I felt more connected to my roommate, and the dorm also has air conditioning.”
“I felt like I had to be outside of my room and connect with my hall because it’s so small in the room, and when I lived there, I felt like I knew everyone on my floor instead of just my roommate. I think people also participated in programs our CA did, which helped me make friends,” said Shea.
