Keene State’s Women’s Soccer faced off against Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) on Saturday, Sept. 28, during a hard back and forth battle between the two teams, only to end in a 0-0 tie.
During the start of the game, ECSU went on the attack, pushing the Owls into their box, resulting in three penalty kicks for ECSU. Keene States goalkeeper Riley Andriski saved the goal and the Warriors were called off sides twice.
The Owls then came back with an offensive strike against the Warriors for 15 minutes. During that time, the three shots that KSC took by Elizabeth Tschudin, Joclynn Tyler and Katherine Burzlaff were saved by ECSU’s goalie Alex Ignatowicz.
The Owls continued to fight for a goal as halftime approached them. In the final minutes of Keene’s attempts at a goal, Claire Halligan’s shot went wide, ending the half and leaving both teams going to the second half still with a score of 0-0.
Both teams came into the second half with goals in their minds, but both goalkeepers were not letting anything past them.
In the first 16 minutes of the game, Andriski saved three shots and Ignatowicz saved one, putting both teams on an equal playing field.
During the rest of the second half, neither of the teams was able to get ahead of the other. KSC’s Bryn Dickinson was able to take a shot and ECSU’s Glenda Zhiminaicela took two shots for her team, but neither was able to put one in the net.
The second half ended, finishing the game with a 0-0 draw between Keene State and Eastern Connecticut State University in a well-versed match.
The Owls will be traveling to North Dartmouth, Mass. on Saturday, Oct. 5, to compete against the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth at 3 p.m.
