KSC students were able to dine outside during this year’s community dinner.
The community dinner was held Thursday Sept 5. During this event, there was food provided for Keene State students. There was an abundance of seating at long-tables down Appian Way for attendees to sit at. The dinner was served outside the Zorn Dining Commons.
The food provided at the dinner was Mexican-style and there were sodas and water provided. To end the night, alongside the dessert table there were chocolate chip cookies and churros provided.
While there were many people present at the event, not everyone enjoyed the meal.
“If it wasn’t free, I wouldn’t eat it,” said junior Morena Silva.
“It was great they were providing free food but there weren’t many options other than chicken, steak and rice, like no vegetarian options and things like that, that’s all,” continued Silva. “This is my food review. I got chicken, Spanish rice, corn, it was okay. Corn was good but it tasted like normal corn, couldn’t really taste the seasonings on it. I’d say the corn is a good five out of ten. Rice tasted like rice and you can’t really mess up rice I guess, so I give it a good eight, and that’s all for my food review.”
Despite some negative comments, many others enjoyed the food and engaging with the community.
“I personally loved the food, the corn and the steak were personally my favorite and I liked that it was a free meal since I now live off campus,” said junior Kinley Harbour.
“I made a few tortillas and a little bowl, everyone was really nice,” said junior Becca Brennan. “It was great to see everyone on campus together even though some people who live off campus now were able to come and get some food, great gathering and the food was delicious.”
