The new first-years have just wrapped up a busy two weeks of orientation, moving in, classes and exploring KSC.

First-years expressed they’ve been finding it easy to make new friends on campus and get along with their classmates and professors.

“I really like all the people, I’ve made a lot of friends so far,” said cybersecurity major Ysaiah Arezzo.

“All the professors are really nice,” said Keegan Evans, a pre-med major. “I got lost finding one class but that’s my fault.”

They also expressed interest in getting involved with all of the events on campus throughout the year.

“I’m looking forward to all the Bingo nights, those look really fun,” said Tagora Mortensen, a psychology major. “I did the Freshman Bingo and that was super fun.”

Many first-years are also planning to participate in various clubs or sports.

“I’m already in the Esports team,” said Arezzo. “And I wanted to do another sport, like volleyball or something like that.”

“I might get involved with the Pride Club and the Neurodivergent Club,” said Mortensen. “And I was also thinking about going into the ASL Club because I’ve been wanting to learn ASL for a while.”

“I’m…in the Esports club, I’m on the varsity Overwatch team” said Evans. “And for other things, maybe just recreational basketball on campus.”

They also mentioned what they liked so far at Keene State, and what they did not like so much.

“I’m looking forward to just general fun events,” said Mortensen. “Because I know you guys have a lot of those.”

“I don’t really know a lot about the upperclassmen dorms and that really freaks me out,” continued Mortensen. “Even though we’re first-years, I wish we’d get to tour … and see what it’s like.”

“I know … the events, you have one every day.” said Arezzo. “I think I don’t have any [dislikes]…”

“I’m looking forward to studying abroad, I’m going to Chile for a semester,” said Evans. “Nothing [bad] so far. So far, everything’s been pretty good.”
