The presence of the stage on the Fiske Quad signified to Owls that the end of the spring semester was on the horizon.
Some students are taking their finals and then moving out for the summer, but others are staying on campus through finals until commencement. Sophomore and Student Involvement desk attendant Zachary Schultz said finals were not a problem for him.
“I’m feeling alright,” Schultz said. “I have three tests, one for each of the classes I’m taking this semester.”
Following the end of the semester, Schultz said he will be doing “a lot of working and keeping a broad emphasis on physical health going into the next academic year.”
Sophomore Ella Sirois said she is also preparing for the end of the semester but with a bit more on her plate. Sirois described her feelings as “definitely stressed out, but I think I might have it under control, at least now I’d say.”
As far as what work she still needed to do, Sirois, a double major in criminal justice and psychology, stated, “I have one big project and three cumulative exams”.
Sophomore Sawyer Culberson said he is feeling “pretty great” going into finals week.
“I have a 4.0 GPA, so finals are usually pretty easy for me, as long as I stay on top of things,” Culberson said. “I have a couple essays but mostly project work, as a graphic design major I have a lot of project work.”
Over the summer, Culberson said he will be working on campus at the Student Involvement desk and has applied for a job at Kimball Jenkins School of Art as a summer counselor.
Junior Benjamin O’Connor said he feels confident going into his final exams.
“I’m feeling pretty good. I’ve been slowly churning through all of them,” O’Connor said. “I got lucky that most of them were film projects and I had a lot of time to edit them; now I just have to finish a paper and do an exam. I’m not as stressed as I thought I’d be.”
As far as his summer plans, O’Connor said he has a lot to look forward to.
“My friend and I are going to Atlanta this Friday to visit our friend who is graduating from Georgia Tech,” O’Connor said. “Then, I’ll go back home to Minnesota to do a summer class on independent film. I’ll also be volunteering at a film festival for a few days.”
