The Owls took down the Riviers thanks to a huge night from junior Irini Stefanakos and sophomore Grace Bazin.
Just ten minutes into the game, Bazin attempted a shot and firstyear Grace Seabury tipped it in. This cut the Owls loose. Captain Stefanakos and Bazin would do lots of damage throughout the night. As the first quarter was about to wrap up, fifth-year Emily White’s defense was too much for the Riviers which caused a turnover. Junior Elizabeth Gonyea brought the ball down and found White on the side, who then found Stefanakos in the circle. Without any hesitation, Stefanakos brought the Owls to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
Going into the second quarter, the Riviers had two failed corner shots on a strong offensive push. Deep into the second quarter, sophomore Kalina Piasecki found a goal, assisted by Bazin. KSC held onto the 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The Owls came running into the second half, scoring two goals within the first five minutes. First Bazin assisted Stefanakos for a goal. Then minutes later, Bazin found her own, making it 5-0. Still hungry for more, with just two minutes left in the third quarter, Stefanakos dished the ball from the middle to Bazin who was able to shoot between Coupal’s legs and bring the Owls to 6-0.
Just moments into the fourth, sophomore Jennifer Erikson found Stefanakos in the middle who discovered her third and final goal of the night, putting the Owls at 7-0. Riviers Madison Streeter would find her team’s first goal of the night with just under 12 minutes left on the clock. The Owls’ defense was beaten by this point in the game, letting another two goals in within a 3:50 span as the match was wrapping up.
The final score of the night was 7-3 Keene State.
