Fifth-year Brendan Eaton is regarded as a humble leader on and off the field.
“He’s a very physical, competitive player.” said baseball head coach Justin Blood. “He an example for our younger guys as a leader, and has been very involved in community service outside of baseball.” Eaton is entering his fifth and final season with Keene State College baseball, and his second season as a co-captain of the team. He’s returning this season after an injury shortened his 2022 campaign, and is hungry for more success.
In his last season with the Owls, he posted career numbers in runs batted in (RBI’s) with 18, tied for the team lead with 46 total bases and recorded 89 putouts defensively in 29 starts.
Blood was also impressed with how Eaton handled himself as a leader last season in the coach’s first year with the Owls. “He latched onto the way we wanted to go about our work and took it upon himself to live up to those goals.” he said.
Eaton talked some about his leadership style, “I think I’m someone you can come to, I’m pretty approachable.” he said. “I treat all my teammates the same, regardless of if they’re my best friend or someone I don’t know as well… I try to be there for everyone.” his four years at Keene State, Eaton has made plenty of memories as a player, with his favorite coming last season in 2022 in a walkoff victory over Castleton. He also enjoyed last season’s trip to a March tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Eaton is looking forward to his final season, returning from an injury that ended his season early a year ago. “I’m excited to get the opportunity to play again,” he said. “I’m excited to get back out there with the guys and want to get some wins this year.”
