Mac and cheese bites are the perfect way to enjoy the upcoming fall weather. These miniature mac and cheese bites are a fan favorite at dinner parties or social gatherings. This comfort food turns into party food. If you want to spice up the recipe, you can substitute the American cheese with other cheeses such as cheddar, white cheddar, asiago, swiss and many more.
The added flavors from the other cheeses will enhance each of the flavors in these mini bites. If you’re feeling really crazy, you can even add bacon, broccoli, ham, peppers or any other food that you enjoy. If you do so, make sure you cook the food first, and then add it to the already cooked mac and cheese. These easy to make bites are not only enjoyable, but also easy to serve to guests.
Ingredients:
Elbow macaroni (1½ cups)
Butter or margarine (2 Tbsp)
Onion (1 small)
Salt (½ tsp)
Pepper (½ tsp)
All-purpose flour (¼ cup)
Milk (1¾ cups)
American cheese (6 oz)
Bread Crumbs (1 container)
Directions:
Boil water and cook the macaroni until tender, but not too soft. Make mac and cheese then add different ingredients if you want.
In a separate saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and add in the onions, salt and pepper.
Stir the ingredients occasionally until done. In a small bowl, mix the flour and milk until smooth. Then add the ingredients from the saucepan into the bowl with the milk and flour. Boil together and stir for approximately one minute.
After everything is mixed in, stir in the cheese until melted. Finally, add the macaroni. Take a small muffin tin, grease the inside with butter and sprinkle breadcrumbs on the bottom of each one.
Take the mac and cheese filling and fill the tray, then add a small dusting of breadcrumbs and bake at 375 degrees until crisp for about ten minutes.
