Twins often fool people into thinking they’re identical. However, these sisters are sprinting past the opposition.
Katelyn and Lindsey Terry are becoming a force to be reckoned with on the women’s track team.
The two came to Keene together from Strafford, New Hampshire. The Terry twins are hard to tell apart, both in-person and performance-wise at meets. Since their arrival, their hard work has been noticed both by coaches and teammates.

“They’re both very dedicated to the sport. They’re on time for practices. They follow instructions in terms of the training and they’re motivated to be the best they can be,” Coach Tom Pickering said of the two sisters.
Even the twins’ teammates see their hard work and dedication paying off on the track as well.
“Every meet I feel like someone has something really good to say about them, or you hear that they PR’ed [Personal Record] in an event, or they won their event, or did exceptionally well. So there’s always something positive to say about them,” teammate Shelley Burns said.
Lindsey, the older of the duo, is described by her sister as a more intense individual, whereas Katelyn describes herself as more easygoing.
Either way, the two have put up better numbers than they ever have on multiple events.
The two sisters have also set personal records in the triple jump event and the 600 meter race, in addition to knocking on the door for a couple of school records in the 400 and 600 meter events.
Burns attributed much of the twins’ consistency and accomplishments to their mental toughness and calm demeanors.
“I feel like they have a really good mental outlook on it. I never see them freaking out before a race or overthinking it … I feel like that’s a huge part of racing, and they’re strong at it,” Burns said.
Aside from the training and the sheer will to get better, sibling rivalry is what pushes them.
“You’re always there to push each other. Certain events I’m not as good at, and so if I start beating her in a race that day, then you know she’s having a bad day, so she she’s like, ‘Oh, she can’t beat me,’ so she’ll try harder,” Lindsey said.
The twins are described as quiet by their teammates and by themselves as generally quiet and reserved.
On the track, however, their humor and personalities come out.
“They add humor when people are nervous about a race. They’re always there to talk about it,” teammate Allison Brady said.
The two twins are both film majors and often help one another with projects.
They enjoy the same types of movies, share the same type of success on the track and have many of the same interests, but they also claim to be different in many ways.
Katelyn claimed to be the more outgoing of the two, whereas Lindsey is said by both sisters to be more shy and reserved.
In addition, the two said the more talkative-Katelyn spends some of her free time singing, while the reserved-Lindsey enjoys writing.
Regardless of similarities and differences, one thing they both agree on is that they want to keep improving as the season goes on.
“[We] Just keep working hard and doing what we’ve been doing. Putting in extra work . . . Staying focused really,” Katelyn said.
